A sniff in the kortevar, that what you cry for, yeled? A prert up the cull, a prang on the dumpendebat?

If You Have Ears to Hear It

Who, readers, seems to have consumed the most wingnut Kool-Aid over the past couple of weeks?

Was it the execrable Ann Coulter?

Kool-Aid ManTo expiate the pain of losing her firstborn son in the Iraq war, Cindy Sheehan decided to cheer herself up by engaging in Stalinist agitprop outside President Bush’s Crawford ranch. It’s the strangest method of grieving I’ve seen since Paul Wellstone’s funeral. Someone needs to teach these liberals how to mourn.

… We’re sorry about Ms. Sheehan’s son, but the entire nation was attacked on 9-11. This isn’t about her personal loss. America has been under relentless attack from Islamic terrorists for 20 years, culminating in a devastating attack on U.S. soil on 9-11. It’s not going to stop unless we fight back, annihilate Muslim fanatics, destroy their bases, eliminate their sponsors and end all their hope. …

I have a feeling every time this gal opens her trap, Michael Moore gets a residuals check.

Or was it the loathsome looney-tune Ben Stein?

Kool-Aid ManThere is one great man standing between us and this capitulation to evil: that man is George Bush, and he has two great allies, Tony Blair and John Howard. If we did not have George Bush at the helm, if we had a moral relativist like Kerry or Gore, we would even now be playing the same appeasing games as Chamberlain played with Hitler, and which France and Germany, Spain and Italy, Norway and Belgium, tragically, even Canada, play with the enemies of the human spirit.

By a great providence, we were sent George Bush. In his mind, there is such a thing as evil. Terrorism is evil. Racism is evil. The murder of unborn babies is evil. Torturing a totally innocent Terri Schiavo to death is evil. He sees it, acts on it, actively works not just to get along day by day, but to keep evil at bay and to overcome it where it can be overcome. As time goes by, I come to realize that George Bush, with all of his faults, is the spiritual heir to Abraham Lincoln, to Martin Luther King, Jr., to Winston Churchill, to the late Pope John Paul II. How unbelievably lucky we are to have him, and how grateful we should be.

The terrifying part is that he will be gone from power in less than three years. Then what? The evil will remain in men’s souls, and who will be there to fight it? We have to start thinking right now of who sees and recognizes the difference between good and evil and start energizing ourselves to make that man or woman President. George Bush’s shoes will be terrifyingly difficult to fill.

No, readers, I believe that America’s thirstiest pundit, the King of Kool-Aid, is still:

David Horowitz.

Read ‘em and weep:

1. “Remembering the fallen soldier is important even if his mother has forgotten him”, 13 August

No my friend, it’s shame on you and Cindy Sheehan and all her anti-American, anti-Iraqi, supporters. You and they have betrayed the people of Iraq who so desperately want their freedom that they risked their lives to cast a vote on January 30th which you didn’t even bother to notice. You have betrayed this country and its brave men and women in arms who picked up the flag where Casey Sheehan fell.

Is Cindy Sheehan’s wretched, hateful campaign in any particular at all about her son? Casey Sheehan volunteered to serve in Iraq. Fought bravely so that the people of Iraq could breathe the air of freedom. Casey Sheehan served his full tour of duty and could have returned home. But unlike the cowards and betrayers that you are, embracing the enemies of freedom who attacked this country on 9/11 and are waging war against the non-Muslim West in Europe today, he hated them. Instead,he embraced the battle for freedom that defines our time. Instead of returning home, he signed up for a second tour in Iraq knowing exactly what he was doing.

The mother also knows what she’s doing. The mother’s screeching hatred for her country and its mission is saying this to her son: “You are an idiot who made yourself a tool of American imperialism, a cancer on the world. You are a tool of the Jews (this is literally what she has said, which is no surprise having fallen in with leftwing fascists who have already poisoned the public discourse with Jew hatred and demonic conspiracy theories). I’m ashamed of you, my son, and what you stood for in your life.” That is Cindy Sheehan’s real message to her son, if you have ears to hear it.

A mother with any decency would not have conducted this campaign on behalf of America’s domestic enemies, who preferred Saddam Hussein to us and who have dedicated themselves to an internal war against this country, against the Iraqi people and against people all over the world who want their freedom. A mother with any decency would pay tribute to her son in her grief and not merely exploit him for the purposes of people whose hatred for his country and his service is imprinted on every utterance they make.

2. “Why can’t this grieving mother remember her own son:?” (sic), 17 August

Kool-Aid ManIt’s probably because she’s too busy hating her country. Casey Sheehan was not a draftee in a war he didn’t approve. He volunteered not once but twice, the second time after the Iraq war was well underway. He was a mechanic and there was no reason he should have been in harm’s way the day he was killed except that he volunteered to rescue his comrades who were under fire. Casey Sheehan was a war hero in a war he embraced.

To listen to the mother only an idiot could volunteer for the war Casey died in. George Bush’s war. Haliburton’s war. The Jews’ war.

Cindy Sheehan is a hateful woman. Not all the grief in the world can excuse her reprehensible behavior. And it certainly can’t excuse all the America-haters, Bush-haters, and haters of the war for Iraq’s freedom who are willing to hide behind this woman’s grief to libel their own country and its President and to bring joy to its enemies’ hearts.

Yet again, Horowitz has achieved perfection. He is the Flaubert of the right-wing Internet. Is there a single blast-fax wingnut talking point Horowitz missed? An insult he overlooked? If there is, it sure wasn’t because he didn’t try his best.

Ben Stein, Charles Krauthammer: Kool-Aid dilettantes. They sip it daintily out of bone-china teacups, with their pinkie fingers sticking out. Michelle Malkin, Ann Coulter: those two can put the stuff away; they’re no slouches. They can drink your average right-winger under the table, so to speak.

But no one can guzzle wingnut Kool-Aid the way David Horowitz can. For days at a time, he glugs it down, over and over, until finally his bladder’s about to burst, then he fires up “David’s Blog,” sits down at the keyboard, and drains every drop of wingnut dogma into his writing in a protracted high-pitched hiss of micturition. Can you imagine how good it must feel?

  1. Ron Peters:

Chris, I’m going to use Horowitz’s screed in my class (“vituperative” is a vocabulary word this week) as well as the beautiful extended metaphor you employ in your commentary. Well done son! “They sip it daintily out of bone-china teacups, with their pinkie fingers sticking out.” That’s good stuff there. The experiences of your darker days are paying off now with the clarity with which you understand this asshole’s addiction to the juice.

  2. lycfyg:

Want to explain how following the Constitution, defending the country and not wanting to give over half our earnings to the government is considered drinking the Kool-aid?
You pathetic liberals, who’s socialism has proven to fail over 2000 years of recorded history, make a better case for being under the spell of some potion.
The reason you are liberals is simply you are weak.
Or strong and immoral – wishing to be the one handing back out the crumbs after the comfiscation.

  3. dumpendebat:

No, I don’t want to explain that, lycfyg, because guess what? I never said it.

I saw your post on the functional weak and the immoral strong. It sounds like a tired rehashing of Atlas Shrugged, but I’ll say this much for you: You’re not a Kool-Aid drinker. I disagree with you about 99% of the time, but at least you’re not just regurgitating the talking points, the way most right-wing bloggers and TV/radio people do.

  4. Hank Dagny:

Thanks for noticing I guess. I will leave the obvious “liberal pot calling the liberal media kettle black” retort on regurgitation by whatever-wing.
Rehashing – maybe. Rebuttal by the left – impossible, or you would have.

  5. lycfyg-LQ:

You also ignored the annihilation of the ‘Bullshit for Dummies and Useful Idiots’ Democrat Agenda – Hank so thoughtfully swiss-cheesed.
Interesting. Truth has no comeback, does it Dump?

  6. Hank Dagny:

Now now lyc, dont’ get wound up. Dump is one of those liberals who thinks AND feels. He just needs to think more and he will leave the dark side of socialism.
I have faith in you Dump!
