Horatio Alger on acid

In the Bush administration’s Bizarro World, there are no “failures,” only “successes that haven’t occurred yet.”

[CNN White House Correspondent Ed] HENRY: You know, going back to September 2001, the president said, dead or alive, we’re going to get [Osama bin Laden]. Still don’t have him. I know you are saying there’s successes on the war on terror, and there have been. That’s a failure.

[Homeland Security Adviser Fran] TOWNSEND: Well, I’m not sure — it’s a success that hasn’t occurred yet. I don’t know that I view that as a failure.

Horatio Alger on five hits of acid couldn’t have put a happier face on it.

Happy New Year, readers.

  1. Hank Dagny:

Success is defined as killing or capturing Osama by some deadline?
The war on terror stops with the death of Osama?
Some leftwing nuts think he is dead and Bush won’t say because he wants to keep the war going for oil and Haliburton, and blah, blah, blah.
Success is terrorists busy trying to stay alive and fight in the middle east instead of planning to attack us in this country as they were able to do during the Clinton years.
Success is killing terrorists ‘over there’.
But as your blog shows, we have enemies or pure idiots here at home.

  2. Ron Peters:

All of this administration’s successes are one’s that haven’t occurred yet. Great post. The 1st comment on this thread has a point about “pure idiots here at home.” The cause and effect of middle east violence and terrorism seems crystal clear. “Pure idiots” explains things!
