I personally believe that the WWII generation’s greatest legacy was the civil rights act. These people came to Congress and also served in both Republican and Democratic administrations and they made fundemental and far reaching changes to the status quo. Both parties can and should proudly share the credit.

It is absolutely shameful for some to abuse the legacy of MLK and the sacrifices that he and his peers (legislative and otherwise) made to enrich our nation with the civil rights act. Savage can talk all he wants, but at the end of the day there is no doubt in my mind that our country is far better from the efforts of that generation.

I don’t know if Savage is on the radio here in Pittsburgh (but I’d be surprised if he isn’t). I used to listen to him occasionally when I was living in the D.C. area. He’s way more entertaining than any other AM-radio wingnut, because he’s so out there.

I heard him assert once that Iraqi insurgents were able to read email communications between US Army officers in Iraq and the Pentagon, and that that’s why so many soldiers keep getting injured and killed by IEDs.

That “great post by Hank Dagny” is, of course, standard right-wing boilerplate (Libs and Dems exploit the Black Man for their own nefarious reasons, etc, etc).

At least with Savage his listerners are aware of his bigoted views unlike the subtleness of Limbaugh and his listeners when they imply that, ‘if only the poor Negros only knew which Party had their best interests in mind’ they’d be so much better off.
