I agree that torture is never justified.

You can’t torture prisoners and then protest when the other guys do it to you.

Jesus! If that were done to a dog, this country would be in an uproar. So, why do the “religous right” sit on their collective hands, smile and nod?

Personally, I think these tortures should be tried out on people like Malkin, Rush, bush, cheney, condi, o’reilly et al. I have the link somewhere, it states that less than 15% at Gitmo MAY actually have terrorist ties.

What a slap in the face of democracy and the GC.

I know what you mean. It’s only human to wish to do great harm to people like the 9/11 planners, but torture is wrong, no matter what.

Unfortunately, far too many Americans have been willing to accept it as axiomatic that anyone suspected of being involved with terrorism is automatically guilty of being a terrorist, and that it’s always OK to torture a terrorist. If someone like Malkin or those tools at Powerline could personally take part in the torture for a few days, sort of like a Baseball Fantasy Camp, I think they would do it, and never mind what Jesus would have had to say about it.

Almost regretfully, I would have no problem shackling up some guy if I knew he was in on 9/11. But, as we know, hundreds of these captives at Guantanamo were later released after being proven innocent, so we screwed up royally.
