“Rise from your grave”

According to Sen. McCain, it would be a huge mistake to withdraw US military forces from Iraq, “because if we come home, bin Laden and Zarqawi, they are going to follow us.

It would be bad enough for Osama bin Laden, who is most likely somewhere in northwestern Pakistan, to “follow us” home from Iraq, but you know what would be truly creepy?

If Abu Musab az-Zarqawi, who died last June, came back to life. That would be some creepy shit.

President Bush repeated the same talking point: “If we leave Iraq before the job is done, the enemy will follow us here.

If they’re capable of rising from their graves, I guess they’re more than capable of “following us here.”

  1. Ziem:

The “we’ll have to fight them here” tactic worked well during WWII, so they’re giving it a whirl again.

Of course these people can’t keep the players straight, they’re too busy creating new threats and laughing - all the way to the bank.

  2. dumpendebat:

What I don’t get is how these people consider it somehow tough and manly to be in a state of constant fear that scary Arabs are coming to get you. These people seem to honestly believe that “The Terrorists” might seize them at their local Taco Bell or Wal-Mart and behead them right there in the parking lot. They’re so scared of “The Terrorists” that they’re willing to let the Bush adminstration assume literally dictatorial powers.

  3. Stram:

Scaring people keeps them in line. How in the hell else could you ever explain 62 million sheep voting for Bush in 2004?

I had heard McCain had invoked Zaraqwi. I guess George or Karl forgot to tell him to change his cue cards.

  4. Ziem:

or… the Germans of the 30’s and 40’s…
