Cognitive Dissonance

Chris Matthews spent the better part of two years during Campaign 2000 attacking Al Gore as a liar, a fool who was “uncomfortable in his own skin,” “Clinton’s bathtub ring” who “would lick the bathroom floor to be President,” etc, etc.

This, mind you, was after he brought the execrable Gennifer Flowers on his show, where she spent half an hour accusing President Clinton of multiple murders.

He has now spent months and months making nasty remarks about Sen. Hillary Clinton.

In the meantime, he openly gushes over Saint John Straight-Talk McCain:

During MSNBC’s January 28 coverage of President Bush’s final State of the Union address, Chris Matthews — host of MSNBC’s Hardball — began an interview with Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (AZ) by saying, “Senator McCain, you know you’re in my heart!” At the end of the interview, Matthews said: “Well, you show a lot of courage out there, Senator.”

But readers, there is no amount of evidence that could change the mind of a wingnut who thinks he sees “Liberal Bias in the MSM.” Our friend Hank Dagny of Liberal Quicksand seems to be getting his cable-TV service from Bizarro World, because he looks at Chris Matthews and sees “an unpaid prostitute for the Clintons.”

Chris Matthews is a Democrat. He is a pure Democrat. He is the standard sheep liberal Democrat who would vote for Osama bin Laden himself, if he was the DNC nominee for president. But the liberals are still after him. Why?

Because Chris Matthews is not on the Hillary train – that’s why. Chris Matthews is tired of being an unpaid prostitute for the Clintons. He wants a liberal-socialist-communist in the White House, but he does not want to have to cover up for the Clintons again. Once for eight years, is enough.

(Not surprisingly, Hank Dagny was unable to explain exactly how Matthews had served as an “unpaid prostitute for the Clintons,” nor did he even attempt to explain Matthews’ two-year War on Gore. He also seems to think MSNBC, the home of not only Chris Matthews, but also Joe Scarborough and Tucker Carlson, is the epitome of Liberal TV, but that’s another story.)

Let’s face it, readers — Chris Matthews is a shill for the Republican Party. I can’t put it plainer than that. He’s been in the pocket of the GOP for over a decade. Yet the concept of “Liberal Bias in the MSM” is so deeply ingrained in the wingnut psyche that many people still somehow think Chris Matthews is a “liberal Democrat.” I guess that’s the only way for them to avoid cognitive dissonance.

  1. Stram:

Being a Pennsylvanian I am sure you are aware of the extremes Chris Matthews goes to to conceal his liberalism. It was brilliant when he convinced his brother to run as a Republican for your Lt. Governor.

    He fools everyone.

  2. Hank Dagny:

Chris Matthews correctly analyzing Gore doesn’t make him conservative. It makes him a liberal who knows Gore is joke – as his global warming farce proves.

Mind you, for every Jenny Flowers interview there are two Valerie Plame interviews.

And he may have Clinton Exhaustion like most of the country, but he will be on her side once she has the nomination. Big time. After all, he heard it straight from Jenny herself.

His gushing over McCain is the same general strategy the rest of the liberal media has – get two liberals on the ticket and we can’t lose.

If McCain is the opponent for Hillary, McCain will wonder where all his friends in the media went. They will turn on him faster than Imus.

Dump, your denial of a left wing media is laughable – and sad. But it fits classic Liberalism Disorder. Keep reading and I hope you cure yourself BEFORE you are in chains by the type of party and government you vote for.

Hillary is the next president – so relax. Forget about little Chris Matthews. I’d worry about researching how to survive communism since you don’t seem like the type to fight it – especially since you voted for it.
I hear turning in dissenters gets you extra priviledge. Keep your blog current. It will help too.

  3. dumpendebat:

Is Chris Matthews a “conservative”? Who knows? He’s a multi-millionaire who shills shamelessly for the Republican Party on his popular cable TV show, when he’s not vacationing at his $4.5 million house in Nantucket. We know that much.

  4. dumpendebat:

Oh, and you forgot to mention why it is that a “standard sheep Democrat” would have spent most of two years trying his best to prevent the Democratic Party’s nominee (the vice-president of the US) from being elected President. I guess a lot of “standard sheep liberal Democrats” worked hard for the Bush campaign back in 2000.

(Those “standard sheep liberals” must have been really ticked off when Al Gore’s film won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, and when that “joke” of a guy Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize, don’t you think?)

And, finally — are you really suggesting what you seem to be suggesting above, that John McCain is a “liberal”?
