Today being the 1st of April, strange things are happening on the Internet. For example, the socialists at The Liberal Avenger have disappeared overnight… they’ve been replaced by real red-blooded Americans. This is good stuff. “Guns Don’t Kill People, Arabs Kill People,” for example. You should take a look before it’s gone. Update: Wikipedia has [...]

What do you think, readers? Do you reckon this man has control issues? Thank God, the man’s wife never signed this contract, but she still married the creep.

I’ve been a Netflix customer for about four months now, and I’ve rented thirty DVDs in that space of time, an average of 7.5 DVDs a month. That’s not a whole lot (although I’ve gone through several periods of inactivity from being out of town so damn much). But it seems that Netflix is penalizing [...]

Well, Bill O’Reilly and John Gibson can claim a decisive victory in the “War on Christmas,” at least in the DC suburbs. Today is the 3rd of January, and the wretched Muzak system in my apartment building is still cheerfully blaring Christmas tunes, all your favorites. Let’s see how long this lasts.

After multiple visits to Eden Center, I find myself coming to the inexorable conclusion that Vietnamese Iced Coffee with Bubbles might be the best beverage there is. (The “bubbles” are actually black tapioca balls, if you were wondering.) If you live in the DC metro area, you could do worse than to visit Song Que [...]

A reporter from the San Francisco Chronicle decided to see if he could get better gas mileage out of a 2001 Chevy Malibu at 55 mph than at the normal rate of speed on the highway: Traffic was a bit light when The Chronicle decided to take a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu for a 200-mile spin [...]

Is District Court Judge Richard A. Palumbo the dumbest judge ever, or is he just a major-league asshole? You decide. Here’s what happened: Three weeks before Yvette Cade was doused with gasoline and set on fire, allegedly by her estranged husband, a Prince George’s County judge dismissed the protective order Cade had against him, despite [...]

In the UAE, “The Simpsons” has been dubbed into Arabic and “arabicized:” “Omar Shamshoon,” as he is called on the show, looks like the same Homer Simpson, but he has given up beer and bacon, which are both against Islam, and he no longer hangs out at “seedy bars with bums and lowlifes.” In Arabia, [...]

Back in July, I commented (twice) on a very bad article from the Chronicle of Higher Education, entitled “Bloggers Need Not Apply.” The upshot of the article was that it’s a real bad idea to write a blog under your own name, because academic search committees might read your blog and then decide you’re a [...]
