Self-policing
Michelle Malkin put forward the risible claim, in her “book” Unhinged, that the political Right in America polices itself, and that examples of right-wing extremism are quickly denounced by mainstream conservatives. (The political Left, on the other hand, by contrast, is characterized by loose cannons whose outrageous remarks are met with silence from mainstream liberals.)
So, a GOP campaign manager calls Lynn Swann “the rich white guy in this campaign,” and gets fired from the campaign for it, and Malkin approves. She criticizes the comment (”We’ve come to expect such race-based smears from the Left”). She’s living her words, a right-winger policing her own ranks, denouncing some right-wing extremism, or something, right?
But the execrable Ann Coulter just told a rib-tickling “joke” about poisoning a Supreme Court justice. Any denunciation from the “self-policing” right wing? Michelle? Anyone?
